• Affiliated MRD, LLC is an independent testing laboratory specializing in material characterization, research and failure analysis. Our laboratory consists of state of the art testing equipment operated by highly skilled professionals who can perform accurate analyses and expert interpretation of material problems.
           
• The Materials Testing Laboratory is equipped with an array of testing instruments ranging from stereo microscopes to a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) fitted with an Energy Dispersive X-ray Analyzer(EDS) capable of performing non-destructive chemical analysis. These instruments, in the hands of an experienced operator, can determine the nature of material and its mode and cause of fracture. The equipment not only unlocks the chemical secrets of materials but also provides photographic documentation on near 3-D clarity for presentation.
          
• The features of a fracture surface contain important details that reveal the cause and origin of failure. Since the SEM does not destroy the surface it records, it is useful for legal reports and presentations. When the sample does not lend itself to such analysis, a replica is made from which the information can be gathered. The replication process is similar to fingerprint analysis in the sense that the finger itself does not need to be analyzed.
